Born in India, grew up/played some good cricket in England, coached in South Africa and Pakistan (and did a great job too, I must say, looking at how he transformed both teams from a ragtag bunch of losers to world-beating machines), Bob Woolmer was arguably one of the greatest coaches 'THE' game has ever seen. His sudden demise last weekend has definitely stunned connoisseurs of the game worldwide. Conspiracy theories abound as usual...heart attack, suicide due to the pressures of coaching a team that has its supporters baying for their blood, depression etc, etc. But this latest claim takes the cake. While it is definitely tempting to say 'I-told-you-so' and dismiss this as yet another instance of the padosi-mulk bashing syndrome, I wouldn't completely rule it out. R.I.P Bob.
