A must-read article in the New Yorker by Atul Gawande on the maze that is the American healthcare system, what is wrong with it (some things he describes are downright scary) ...and parts of it that actually work well. It is almost sad to think that some of the possible models that could be followed , which he describes in his write up, and which can provide affordable (and accountable) healthcare to all would probably be nipped in the bud in nine out of ten cases (make less money? medicare for all? too socialist!).
